Myopic (D)

You are nearsighted.

You can only see up to a radius of 10.

Myopic (D) is a physical defect that limits the player's vision.

Players with Myopic can only see tiles up to 10 tiles away from themselves in a circular area; beyond that, terrain and objects are treated as though they were in complete darkness.[1]

The effects of Myopic can be mitigated by wearing either spectacles or mirrorshades.[2][3]

Advantages & Disadvantages

Advantages

  • Grants 3 extra points to use during character creation
  • Can be be completely counteracted by wearing spectacles or mirrorshades

Disadvantages

  • Limits the player's vision even in well-lit areas, making it difficult to detect threats in advance
  • Requires the player wear spectacles or mirrorshades at all times to counteract the effects, taking up the face slot
  • Spectacles and mirrorshades have a 1% chance to break when the wearer is struck in melee, meaning players choosing to wear them will have to repair or replace them often. This can be avoided if they are sturdy, but this occupies a mod slot, and requires tinkering or significant luck.
