quartz baboon

Once quartz crystallized on the skin of a monkey bathing in the steaming pools of the subterrane. They was sculpted by the rasp of pressure and the hand of time, and now their throated vowels bounce toward the ear of the void.

Perfect

A quartz baboon is a creature belonging to the baboons faction. Quartz baboons can be found underground in tier 5 zones.[1]

Quartz baboons attack by throwing large stones from a short distance. After throwing a stone, quartz baboons will retreat for a short time before advancing and throwing another.[2] A quartz baboon will spawn with 5 stones; if they run out of stones, or if their target comes within melee range, they will attack with their \vicious bite, a natural short blade weapon that deals ♥3d23-6 (Avg: 4.5) damage.[3]

Quartz baboons will reflect 5%[3] of all damage they take back at their attacker. They will always reflect at least ♥1 damage.[4]

Like all creatures of the baboons faction, quartz baboons will be inflicted with terrified for 2 rounds if they are hostile to a player equipped with a neck-ring, and come within 5 tiles of the player.[5]

Upon death, quartz baboons have a 6% chance to drop a quartz baboon corpse.[3] This corpse can be butchered, and has a 20% chance to produce a quartzfur hat, a 20% chance to produce a quartzfur cloak, and a 20% chance to produce a pair of quartzfur gloves.[1] 40% of the time, it will produce nothing.

Tips

This section is opinion-based. Your mileage may vary.
  • Keep an eye on your hit points while attacking a quartz baboon, since you too will be taking a portion of the damage you deal.
  • If you're struggling, try having an expendable companion such as a burgeoned plant do the bulk of the damage.
