From atop their sunning boulder, this small monkey peers at you with eyes full of curiosity. Two puffs of grey fur billow out from either side of their face.

Perfect

A shrewd baboon is a creature belonging to the baboons faction. Shrewd baboons can be found in the hills, as well as on the surfaces of Red Rock and the Rust Wells.[1]

Shrewd baboons attack by throwing small stones from a short distance. After throwing a stone, shrewd baboons will retreat for a short time before advancing and throwing another.[2] A shrewd baboon will spawn with 5 stones; if they run out of stones, or if their target comes within melee range, they will attack with their \vicious bite, a natural short blade weapon that deals ♥1d21-2 (Avg: 1.5) damage.[3]

Like all creatures of the baboons faction, shrewd baboons will be inflicted with terrified for 2 rounds if they are hostile to a player equipped with a neck-ring, and come within 5 tiles of the player.[4]

Legendary Generation

All legendary baboons will generate as a "baboon hero", a legendary shrewd baboon. Baboon heroes have higher stats than shrewd baboons, as well as spawning with several items. Depending on the title baboon heroes generate with, they will be granted additional attributes, effects, and abilities.[5] Nearly all baboon heroes will spawn accompanied by a group of 4-8 baboons and 1-3 hulking baboons, who will be followers to the baboon hero.[6]

Name

Baboon heroes will always generate with a random display name, which will be structured as: [name], the [1d10+23-12 (Avg: 7.5)]-ringed Baboon [title]. The number of "rings" the baboon has, as well as their title, will determine several of their properties.

Bonuses

All baboon heroes will have the following:
