“Unfinished and prerelease content” refers to certain mutations, changes to existing mutations, and other features that are enabled by turning on the in-game option that says Enable unfinished and prerelease content. Save compatibility is not preserved across changes to this option, meaning turning it on or off can cause existing saves to fail to load.
