Empty the Clips effectively allows the user to fire pistols twice as fast. With normal quickness and no other relevant skills, this means the user can fire a pistol twice in one turn, instead of only once.

Empty the Clips' cooldown (CD) in rounds depends on the user's willpower (WI) attribute:

Skill and Mutation Interactions
- Triple-jointed can potentially cause Empty the Clips to have no cooldown, allowing it to be used multiple times in succession.
- Fastest Gun in the Rust also reduces the action cost of firing pistols. When combined with Empty the Clips, firing a pistol has a total action cost of only 375, allowing a pistol to be fired two to three times in one turn with normal quickness.
- Quickness-increasing mutations, such as Heightened Quickness or Adrenal Control, can increase the total action points available per turn, allowing one to fire pistols even faster.
- Akimbo allows the user to fire multiple pistols simultaneously, enabling even more total shots per turn.
