Whenever you make a cudgel attack with your primary hand, there's a 25% chance you make an additional free attack with the same hand.

Backswing is a skill in the Cudgel skill tree.

It grants the owner a chance to automatically make a second free attack whenever they attack with a cudgel in their primary hand. The backswing is treated as a completely separate attack, so it can miss or hit independently of the initial primary hand cudgel attack that trigged it. A backswing cannot trigger another backswing (only one backswing may occur per turn).[1]

Factions That Teach Backswing

Backswing is not taught by any of Qud's persistent factions. However, procedurally generated factions such as village factions can teach randomly chosen skills as part of their water ritual.

Creatures That Have Backswing

  • Prior to patch (August 2019), Backswing also existed as a skill in the Axe skill tree, and learning the skill from either skill tree would grant the user the ability to backswing off of both cudgel and axe attacks. These skills had the description "Whenever you miss with an axe or cudgel attack, there's a 25% chance you make an additional attack. You can't backswing off a missed backswing." The skill no longer exists in the Axe skill tree, and Backswing now works only for cudgel weapons.
