Overloaded

Overloaded weapons "generate heat when used".

Does the weapon itself have a temperature (and is it affected by ambient temperature, so cooling off, as described for other objects)? Does using an overloaded weapon transfer heat from the weapon to the user? (Could it be helpful in reducing harm from freezing effects?)
