Caves of Qud employs a restricted visual style that can be described as follows:
- There's a limited palette of 18 colors.
- Each tile (sprite) can have up to two colors besides transparent.
- Each tile is 18 pixels wide by 24 pixels tall.
Additionally, composite screens or art pieces in its style employ a vignette effectexpound and a scanline effectexpound.
