Hindren are a race of cervitaurs, or "deer-centaurs," in Qud. They are represented by the following factions:

• The Hindren of Bey Lah, natives of the only known hindren village in Qud
• Pariahs, a faction that includes, among other characters, the hindren that were cast out of Bey Lah

Gender

Hindren society recognizes three genders: female, male, and hartind. In the book Fauns of the Meadow, hartind is defined as "allegedly an ancient term for hindren who lived as both genders or neither." The unique character Lulihart, hindren pariah is hartind, and it is a possible (albeit less common) gender of non-unique hindren.

When Hindriarch Keh is asked why she described Eskhind as travelling with her "sister and brother" when both Meyehind and Liihart are female, she will answer as follows:

If you ask (Eskhind), I'm sure she'll spin some kind of accusation that I believe gender to be an immutable prison, that I impose it on others. She's lying. Our people have a long history of two-gender hindren called hartind, respected and consecrated. There is a proper path to gender variance in our society, of which the male exile could have availed himself years ago. He never did, so I do not recognize him. — Hindriarch Keh
