The qudzu is an immobile creature that spawns on walls. Generally, if there is one of them, there will be many of them in the same zone.

The qudzu is perhaps most well known for its ability to rust metal items held by its targets. Its \frond weapon has a 15% chance on hit to rust a random equipped or held inventory item of its target. The qudzu's attack does not need to penetrate to apply this effect.^[1] Organic materials such as wood, and Lacquered items, do not rust and can be used freely with no risk. Alternatively, items stored inside of Chests are also protected from rusting.

Tips

This section is opinion-based. Your mileage may vary.

Attacking from range is one of the safest ways to protect your equipment from rusting, although it can be hard to hit qudzu that are in concave corners.
If you can reliably one-shot qudzu with an attack, Charge can be a very effective way to kill them before they have a chance to rust your equipment.
As mentioned above, items in chests cannot rust. Storing any rustable items in chests, or even dropping them on the ground, will stop qudzu from rusting your equipment.
