The scratched data disk is one of several early-game disk quest items that can be used to make contact with the Barathrumites and start the main story quest, More Than a Willing Spirit. It is obtained from the corpse in Ruins of Joppa after beginning the game in a non-Joppa village. If the player starts in Joppa, it will be in Argyve's inventory to trade.
