Limbs* (Humanoid): * Excludes limbs granted via mutations
Argyve

His mushroom cloud of beard hair is powdered with all the abrasions of the trash sea: white lime, red iron, gold filament, opalescent shavings of the plastiglomerate. Chrome joints and pieces of scrap crystal are hooked to pockets lining his torso, and one of his bushy eyebrows is perpetually cocked, though whether that's a symptom of an insatiable curiosity or forehead mutation is unknown.

Perfect

Argyve is a unique NPC and quest giver found in Joppa, assuming that the player did not choose one of the random village starts. Additionally, he serves as Joppa's village tinker, a vendor who sells scrap and data disks.

The quests he gives, Fetch Argyve a Knickknack, Fetch Argyve Another Knickknack, Weirdwire Conduit.. Eureka!, and A Canticle for Barathrum, are the first 4 quests in the main quest of Caves of Qud.

Due to Argyve being a member of the Barathrumites, a faction which hates the Mechanimists faction, Argyve will be hostile to any members of the Mechanimists. This is relevant because there is a Mechanimist present in Joppa, the zealot of the Six Day Stilt who grants the O Glorious Shekhinah! quest. This Zealot will, in their random pathfinding around Joppa, eventually wander into the sight of Argyve, who will immediately attack and kill them. It is thus advisable to get the Zealot's quest early on in a playthrough, before Argyve kills them.

Trivia

Spoiler Warning: This article contains information normally only found in the course of advancing the main quest line.
  • Argyve briefly mentions a former apprentice by the name of Skref after the player completes Fetch Argyve Another Knickknack. The flattened remains are implied to belong to Skref by the name of the What With the Disembowelment and All achievement, which is awarded upon finding them.
