watervine farmer and Mechanimist convert

Their kufiya has been cut and resewn to a cowl, and they have tailored a vinewafer sack to approximate the slate habit of the chromaic people. A sheaf of watervine bundled in copper wire is slung on their hip, and they rub a salt-nailed thumb over a talisman of cracked circuitboard.

Perfect

watervine farmer and Mechanimist convert is a unique character that will be in the player's starting village. There are other minor variants of this character depending on the player's starting village, see Mechanimist convert for details on these variants. This page refers to the variant found in Joppa and random villages in the salt marsh.

O Glorious Shekhinah!

The player can speak with the watervine farmer and Mechanimist convert, and in this conversation the player can start the O Glorious Shekhinah! quest. The player will also receive a "bauble", which in Joppa has a 95% chance of either being chosen randomly from either a box of crayons, a gyre iron, a bubble level, or a salt mill. The other 5% of the time, it will be a tier 1 trinket. In starting villages other than Joppa, these chances are instead 75% and 25% respectively, meaning they have a higher chance of giving a slightly more useful bauble.[1]

Conversations

Subpage: Watervine farmer and Mechanimist convert/Conversations

Argyve

Because watervine farmer and Mechanimist convert is a member of the Mechanimists faction, and thus hated by members of the Barathrumites faction, any Barathrumites will be hostile to them. This means that when, in their random wandering around Joppa, the convert wanders into the sight of Argyve (a Barathrumite), he will immediately attack and kill them. It is thus advisable to speak to Joppa's convert and get the O Glorious Shekhinah! quest early in a playthrough, before they have a chance to be murdered by Argyve.

Trivia

  • Instead of being part of the Mechanimists faction, watervine farmer and Mechanimist convert is instead in the hidden faction MechaSub, of which they are the only member. This faction functions almost the same as the Mechanimists, but are slightly friendlier to fish so the convert would not attempt to kill the nearby glowfish in Joppa.
  • Before the Spring Molting update, where the watervine farmer and Mechanimist convert was added, a unique zealot of the Six Day Stilt would give the O Glorious Shekhinah! quest instead.
