Village quests are procedurally generated quests. They can be initiated by speaking to a village quest-giver in a randomly-generated village. Most randomly-generated villages in the world include one village quest-giver. Starting villages typically include two village quest-givers.

Types of Village Quests

Recover a Lost Item

Help with a Secret Plot

Pray at or Desecrate a Shrine

Make a Pilgrimage

Find a Location Near a Landmark

Find a Location in a Direction from a Landmark

Rewards

For completing the quest, the player is awarded with +100 reputation with the village's faction, plus a choice of one of three random rewards. The possible rewards are:[1]

Energy cell and melee weapon rewards depend on the village's zone tier: cell tier will be within two tier of the village's, and the weapon will be one tier higher than the village's. In both cases, the village's tier is considered to be no less than 2. Other rewards do not depend on tier; notably, grenades are completely random and can always include anything up to a  Hand-E-Nuke.

Tips

It can occasionally be lucrative to make off with the object of a quest instead of turning in, such as if it's a  cathedra with white opal tracery. It can also be a  phial of  neutron flux, in which case if you can safely pour the flux into another container, you can turn in the phial and still complete the quest.
