The sloughed off skin is dull quartz and statuesque.
Molting basilisk husks are objects that are found scattered in the area around a 
molting basilisk. They primarily act as decoys for the creature and early warning signs for the player; presumably, the husks have been shed by the basilisk.
Interestingly, molting basilisk husks are configured to used as thrown weapons and have unique thrown weapon stats.
