Note that these are NOT guaranteed to disassemble into any bits at all. Cite it being deliberate behavior to the issue on the bug tracker (marked wontfix). Minor speculation is involved as to why, hope this is fine.

Perfect

HE Missiles are used as ammunition in missile launchers and mortar tubes. The damage inflicted depends on which weapon is used, however all fired shots result in an explosion.

Unlike all other artifacts, when disassembled, they are not guaranteed to give any bits at all, not even their most significant bit.[1]

On Hit Penetration and Damage

Although HE Missiles have visible damage and penetration stats on the equipment screen, these stats have nothing to do with their use as ammo; 4 and ♥1d21-2 (Avg: 1.5) are the stats an HE Missile would have if used as an improvised melee weapon.

When fired from a missile launcher, a HE Missile will collide with a direct hit for 10 and ♥1d61-6 (Avg: 3.5), as well as explode with an initial force of 5000 and ♥20+4d824-52 (Avg: 38).[2]

When fired from a mortar tube, the projectile hits with 3 and ♥1d31-3 (Avg: 2), and explodes with a force of 2000 and ♥8+2d610-20 (Avg: 15).[2]
