Cooking effects are granted when a player creates a cooked meal. The type of effect(s) granted by the meal are controlled by the particular ingredients that are selected when cooking.
- The Meal Preparation skill allows cooking with up to two selected ingredients.
- The Spicer skill allows cooking with up to three selected ingredients.
Basic and Triggered Effects
There are two different types of effects one may gain from a cooked meal.
- Basic effects: Singular effects that are associated with one ingredient.
- For example, cooking with honey can grant the basic effect +3 to saves vs. Disease.
- A basic effect always occurs when cooking with one ingredient. Multiple basic effects may be granted when cooking with two or more ingredients.
- Triggered effects: Dual effects that represent the combination of two different ingredients. One of the provided ingredients randomly provides a trigger condition, while the other provides the resulting effect.
- For example, cooking with dried lah petals and freeze-dried hoarshrooms can grant the triggered effect: Whenever you become afraid, you emit a ray of frost per Freezing Hands at level 5-6.
- A triggered effect has a chance of occurring whenever cooking with two or more ingredients. The game randomly selects which ingredient will provide the trigger condition and which will provide the resulting effect.
- Not all ingredients are capable of being combined with other ingredients to create a triggered effect. Some ingredients have only basic effects.
Tasty Bonus
There is a 10% chance when cooking a meal that it'll give the message "It's tastier than usual." This will give the player one small bonus in addition to the meal effects already given. These can be guaranteed if one of the cooking ingredients is salt.
