Inside the insulated cask of the battery, the electromotive apparatus cracks the energy out of blood and converts it to electrical charge.
A biodynamic cell is a Liquid Fueled Energy Cell which is powered by 
blood.
A biodynamic cell can hold up to 8 drams of blood. At 7,500 charges per dram, this gives it an effective maximum capacity of 60,000 charges.

Due to the high effective capacity, relative ease of finding blood, and ability to refuel the cell, biodynamic cells are one of the better cells in Caves of Qud.
