Rebekah is a historical figure and physician associated with the last sultan, Resheph. She is known for rescuing Resheph after a chariot accident and subsequently accepting him as an apprentice, and for her theft of the Mark of Death from the gate of the Tomb of the Eaters, for which she was excommunicated from the sultanate. Resheph forgave her on her deathbed, as she lay dying from glotrot, and allowed her to be buried in the village of Ezra outside the gate of the Tomb.

She is revered by the Daughters of Exile, an order of tinker-nuns that counts Yla Haj as one of its members.
