The '''trolls''' are a faction consisting of three primary members: {{favilink|Jotun, Who Parts Limbs}}, {{favilink|Fjorn-Kosef, Who Knits The Icy Lattice}}, and {{favilink|Haggabah, Who Plies The Umbral Path}}. The {{favilink|troll foal|plural}} produced by them are also considered a part of the trolls faction.
 
This faction is unique in that it's members are interested in trading secrets about special "artifacts" (distinct from technological [[artifact|artifacts]], as the term usually refers to). Performing the [[water ritual]] with any one of it's three primary members allows the player to learn the location of {{favilink|Stopsvalinn}}, {{favilink|The Ruin of House Isner}}, or {{favilink|Kindrish}}, provided the player has a high enough [[reputation]] to exchange. The player can also inform the trolls of these secrets if they have already learned them, in order to gain reputation with the faction. Notably, this is the only way to learn the whereabouts of Kindrish under normal circumstances.
 
Players start the game with a very low reputation with trolls, causing them to begin hostile to the player. A significant investment in raising this reputation value is required to pacify the trolls, and even more to be able to trade secrets with them.
