A Tale of Fear in Bey Lah

Several sheets of tattered, age-stained parchment are bound together at the margins by some sort of glue.

Perfect

A Tale of Fear in Bey Lah is a book that will be present in the Epilogue village if the player has picked up the crumpled sheet of paper at the charred tree, but did not return it and left Love and Fear unfinished.[1] It can be found in a wooden bookshelf, or other container that descends from it.[2]

Contents

A Tale of Fear in Bey Lah

In the small days of Bey Lah, between Way Back Then and Back Then,
a hindren took to the paths in silent walking eulogy.

Not far from the village they found a corpse copse,
splashed in carbon and glazed with time.
Life long-dead aping structures of the same.

Treestuff diamond-blackened,
rendered immortal by lightning as an arconaut from a Lithofex eye
Fixed in the precise moment of death forever.

Therein, a scrap.

The hindren beheld, scrawled out in heartful scratch
the preserved and beautiful corpse
of a nascent love whose chance to thrive had come and gone.

The hindren quailed, a scrap of life
Living its last at the center of
the nuke-glassed salt dunes of history.

Trivia

The method that generates this book in the Coda village is named PlaceEtaEarthling, suggesting this method may have at one point in development been related to the book Eta and the Earthling, Canto I rather than Love and Fear.[2]
