Several sheets of tattered, age-stained parchment are bound together at the margins by some sort of glue.

Perfect

A Tale of Love in Bey Lah is a book that will be present in the Epilogue village if the player has picked up the crumpled sheet of paper at the charred tree, then returned it and completed Love and Fear.[1] It can be found in a wooden bookshelf or other container that descends from it.[2]

Contents

A Tale of Love in Bey Lah

Once, in the final days of the hindriarchy, before they ended the practice, a pariah of no particular importance did find herself consigned to the gulag. Though she herself bore no honor, in her grasping hands she held the burning heart of the village champion, freely given -- for the two had fallen in love long before the heretic's conviction.

When the jealous hindriarch discovered the missing heart of her beloved champion, she swore cruel vengeance upon the pariah. Pulling upon dark forces, she ensorcelled the pariah’s ex-lover and ordered him to steal her heart again and deliver it to the hindriarch’s crushing fist.

Confronted by her ex-lover, the pariah held tight to her heart and that of the champion. Between them waged a battle of will, and the pariah was too weak to win.

Then, at twilight in the shadow of the spindle, the hindren of Bey Lah saw an image on the horizon of justice impending. It was (playername), and upon arriving they struck the wicked hindriarch down and reunited the lovers to mend and join their hearts. After they left, the people of Bey Lah built a monument to (playername), and thenceforth called them Heartsmith.

The method that generates this book in the Coda village is named PlaceEtaEarthling, suggesting this method may have at one point in development been related to the book Eta and the Earthling, Canto I rather than Love and Fear.[2]
