Note that salt krakens drop the corpses surprisingly frequently (exact numbers would be nice though) and that this is arguably faster than hunting moths |

A luminous mote is a light source that is equipped in the Floating Nearby slot. It can be butchered from the corpse of a glowmoth; however the glowmoth has only a 1% chance to drop a corpse when it is killed.
Similar to the symbiotic firefly, the luminous mote is destroyed permanently if it is unequipped.
Tips
This section is opinion-based. Your mileage may vary.
salt krakens can leave glowmoth corpses in their wake, and will do so surprisingly frequently in the
salt dunes. If you wish to acquire a luminous mote, it may be much quicker to simply follow a salt kraken until it leaves a glowmoth corpse than it would be to hunt glowmoths until one drops a corpse.
