Sharp points are run through with bright and brilliant amethyst and sapphire. The colors remain but smolder to heather in their dying light. The chime is grave-still.

Heartroots tangle at the yawning psychal nexus of the crystal tree. They burn with the light of gaseous feelstuff, all the bits of ambient order in the soil and rock animated by a deeper dimensional warping. This is a shore on the psychic sea.

Smooth crystal glitters with soft light and renewed purpose across their eight facets. Prism-limbs shatter out of their torso and narrow each to a pentacle of sharp points, and a thrum beats at the air around the walking crystal being. The chime becomes.

Tau is one of the chimes of Chavvah. Shortly before the player's arrival at Eyn Roj, she was deeply affected by a vision of the future referred to as the "gyredream", and decided to separate from Chavvah. The player can determine her fate in the quest If, Then, Else. Her physical chime is the still crystal chime, and her psyche manifests in the Taproot of Eyn Roj as glowing soft, accompanied by Aoyg-No-Longer, servant of Ptoh in the Cosmic Wood. Upon giving her chime to the soft, if Aoyg is alive Tau will join the Seekers of the Sightless Way as Tau-No-Longer. If Aoyg has been killed, she will instead become a pariah as Wandering Tau. In either case, she will give the player the crystalline halo. After receiving the halo, if Tau is killed by the player, the halo will transform into the crystalline jile.
