grave moss

It's achromous and brittle; it crunches under the foot. How it clusters into mats must conform to the shape of life-wet body-banks it once flowered from, and with dark red blood will again.

Perfect

grave moss are plants who grow throughout the catacombs of the Tomb of the Eaters. They grow in groups and glow slightly, although it is only enough to light up their current occupying tile. They are normally harmless until blood is spilled on them, making the use of Axes and Short Blades particularly dangerous.

Every 5 points of fire or heat damage will cause the moss to spawn a small cloud of osseous ash of density 80.[1] They initially have ♥100 HP, so they can emit up to 20 tiles of ash when burned.

When grave moss becomes bloody, has blood (or a compound liquid containing blood) splashed onto them, or have a corpse land on them, they will begin to fizz hungrily. After 20 turns, the moss will consume any corpse that was lying on top of them and transform into a gorged growth.[2] They are not considered creatures (and thus, unable to be affected by combat effects) until they have become gorged growths.

Harvesting

When ripe, they can be harvested into clumps of grave moss. Ripe moss is blue in color, and appear visibly brown in the alt view. They have a 2% chance to spawn ripe, and will not grow ripe given time.
