Talk:Girsh Qon
The Very Old Bird..?
Let no fear in your heart grow so immense as the fear for large birds.
- minstrel's tokens are stamped with the image of "the Very Old Bird." Legendary Birds who carry minstrel's tokens also carry sphynx salt injectors, which immunize the user against confusion attacks like cryptic girshlings use.
- sphynx salt injectors are made from crystals of Eve, which grow on the Moon Stair, which is where the Girsh Nephilim originate and Girsh Qon currently resides.
- Wardens Esther claims the glowcrows speak of a bird-god who taught people to gather in large groups. Girsh Qon and Girsh Qas are the only Girsh Nephilim to share a lair with one another.
- Also on the Moon Stair are Chavvah-aligned birds, dream wrens.
- Level 10 Wings allow their owners to quickly cover large distances and easily evade many threats.
- The Girsh have "Girsh-ified" creatures in their ranks, currently only Insects, Arachnids, and Worms outside of Nephilim Cradles. The only ones named after a Nephilim are named after Girsh Agolgot, who has been referred to in-game for a longer time than most of the other Nephilim. We still don't know what a tongueless kagu is.
Beside that crackpot hypothesis, congratulations to Qas and Qon on their marriage, and I thank them for being the WLW icons that we deserve. Felis77 (talk) 23:49, 5 February 2024 (UTC)felis77
Girshist-Ptohist Thought
We know that the Seekers of the Sightless Way organise their hunters in a hierarchy of bird names, and that Ptoh itself (no gods no capital letters) is referred to as "the Elder" which, put together, suggests that Ptoh is a Very Old Bird. The oldest, perchance.
Ptoh can also be said to be a bird-god gathering people in large groups, the Elder Cant described by the late Catu being a pull towards a large gathering of psychic minds around Ptoh.
In this essay I will aim not to disprove the Very Old Bird-Qon hypothesis, but rather put forth the Great Very Old Bird Syncretic Theory, where geriatric birds are a powerful mythological figure in Qud that is then applied to beings such as Girsh Qon or Ptoh. It should be mentioned that birds can also be associated with psychic might: the Seekers being one example, Qon's domain being Confusion, and the Beak mutation adding to the bearer's Ego.
But what is it that enraptures Qud so much about elderly birds? Could it be a desire to see the world through the highest vantage points in both space and time, from the perch of a long, wisened mind life, with Wings that soar across the skies? We just don't know. Panicrites (talk) 03:05, 6 February 2024 (UTC)
