fire suppression system is a lower cost cybernetic which will cover the user with pure gel whenever they begin burning and will continue to do so for as long as the effect persists. This is generally sufficient to keep a creature from being vaporized while swimming in
lava, but will not stop them from taking damage from burning or protect flammable items in their inventory.
The gel-dispensing effect lacks a cooldown and will continuously pour 2-4 drams of gel on the user every turn that they are burning. However, this effect does not apply to extra actions, such as the ones granted by the quickness bonus of inflatable axons nor is extra gel generated if the user were to move multiple times in a turn such as by having
motorized treads or a
cathedra installed.
Any gel poured on the user
Advantages & Disadvantages
Advantages
- Useful against creatures capable of heat damage such as
dawngliders or
red jells.
- Does not cost an action to utilize unlike most other forms of temperature reduction.
- Can resolve some burning effects without the user taking any damage.
- Makes the
Asphalt Mines much easier to navigate.
Disadvantages
- Preemptively pouring gel on oneself provides similar protection against burning without requiring a cybernetics slot.
- Does not grant any actual immunity or resistance to heat damage.
- Rapid temperature reduction is fairly replaceable, somewhat limiting uses outside of specialized builds.
Tips
- Can be used to mitigate or mostly nullify the temperature increase from using overloaded items.
- Allows the user to perform any action while under the effects of
blaze injectors without risk of the tonic ending early.
- Excess gel can be collected and turned into regular gel with
desalination pellets.
- Having fire suppression system installed allows for mk I and mk II
thermal grenades to be detonated without setting the user on fire.
