The salthopper is a creature in the Insects faction. They are most commonly found in the desert canyons and flower fields. They are moderately powerful creatures for how early they are encountered, and can prove deadly to lower level characters traveling through the desert canyons.

The corpse of the salthopper can sometimes be butchered into a salthopper mandible, which is an extremely strong long blade for the early game. It is nearly equivalent in power to a folded carbide long sword.
