Leaves swaddle its hundred segments and lashed root matter squirms out of its tail end.
The seedsprout worm is a rare solitary creature most commonly found in strata 1-5 underground beneath non-ruins biomes (such as desert canyons, hills, mountains, salt marshes, flower fields, salt dunes, jungles, and banana groves). Even in these areas they have a very low spawn rate. If you go deeper than strata 5 underground, they are found only in low-tier cave areas, such as the south-western parts of the world map where the player begins the game.[1]
Seedsprout worms are able to burrow into the ground and leave a trail of plant matter in their wake while burrowed. Eating their corpse is a possible cure component for Fungal Infections.
When the creature is bored and Burrowing is off cooldown, they will disappear into the ground and begin to move around. While burrowed:
- Each tile that they pass over will spawn a wall based on what type of worm it is.
- They get a Movement Speed penalty of 100 - 10 * MutationLevel.
- They cannot attack or fire missile weapons without emerging from the ground.
- They will be invisible until they are attacked, in which they are then forced above ground. Despite being invisible, running into a hostile burrowed creature will automatically attack them.
For the bonesprout worm, this means that they have a base cooldown of 10 turns, and have a movement speed penalty of -50.
Tips
- Plant matter is easily destroyed with one or two whacks, so it is not an issue if you find yourself trapped.
- You can also use defoliant grenades to quickly destroy the walls as they can quickly grow out of control if not dealt with immediately.
