Olive Face is a sultan relic, one of six sultan masks located within the Tomb of the Eaters. It corresponds with the sultan of the fifth sultanate, whose identity and history is randomly-generated each playthrough.
The Olive Face can be found, possibly alongside other sultan relics, in a reliquary located next to the tomb of the sultan belonging to the 5th period. This reliquary will be guarded by cherubim corresponding to factions from the sultan's history which must be defeated before the Olive Face can be removed from the reliquary. As is true with all sultan masks, removing The Olive Face from the reliquary will cause the tombs and reliquaries of the other sultans to disappear, preventing the player from accessing their contents.
In addition to the stat bonuses listed here, the Olive Face will have additional effects based on the history of its sultan; it will grant +200 reputation with any factions the sultan was favored by and -200 reputation with any factions they were disliked by. It will also have a tier 5, armor-based relic effect based on the sultan's theme.[1][2]
Etymology and History
The Olive Face appears to represent a time period during which the sultanate controlled the land region surrounding the Mount of Olives--an even further reduction in holdings compared with the implied territory of the fourth sultanate. There is a general trend as time advances where the sultanate controls smaller and smaller territories with each successive dynasty, with each mask being named for and representing this territorial area.
The Mount of Olives is a mountainous ridge east of Jerusalem in Israel, abutting Jerusalem's Old City. Also known as Mount Olivet, it was named for olive groves present there in antiquity. This suggests that by the time of the last sultan to reign as an Eater, the sultanate controlled only this small region, and that the Spindle is therefore located on or near the Mount of Olives.
