The young knollworm secretes an epoxy-like resin that hardens into plates when compressed by shale.

Perfect

A plated knollworm is a low-level creature often found in underground areas. They are similar to knollworms, but with a higher AV (6 rather than 3) which makes them much harder to kill.

This higher durability also makes plated knollworm more dangerous offensively, as it gives them more time to stack AV penalties on their target with their cleave ability.
