A pink liquid gel eerily kneads the side of a glass tube. It hungers for freedom.
A metamorphic polygel is an applicator that can be used on an inventory item in order to make an exact duplicate of it.
The polygel is useable only once and turns into the item in question. It cannot be used on equipped items, but can be used on otherwise unique items such as sultan relics. It cannot be used if broken or rusted. Duplicating a chest does not duplicate its contents, but duplicating a liquid container does. Duplicating an item that contains ammunition or an energy cell will not duplicate the ammunition or cell along with it.
Similar Items
cloning draught is an item that can create copies of living things, instead of objects. While similar in function, cloning draught is not at all mechanically related to metamorphic polygel. Metamorphic polygel is not a liquid, and cannot be combined or used in the same way as cloning draught. They are completely different objects with different uses.
Tips
- If you're trying to raise your rep with a particularly tricky faction, such as trolls, it can be easier to find one
Schrodinger page from the Annals of Qud and simply clone it with polygels rather than finding a sufficient number of faction deeds. - It may also be desireable to duplicate certain unique items, such as sultan relics, the
Fist of the Ape God, or the 
Sparbine. (Note that for this last one to be useful, you need to find a way to wield more than one two-handed missile weapon, such as a 
gun rack.)
Unreplicable Items
Certain items cannot be replicated by metamorphic polygel:
