A nanopneumatic jackhammer is an artifact that assists the player in destroying walls and other structural objects. It occupies both hand slots and the back slot when equipped.
An energy cell or some other form of power is required for a nanopneumatic jackhammer digging capabilities to function. When powered and equipped, a nanopneumatic jackhammer has a penetration bonus of 24 against walls, and will deal 1/4 of its target's total HP in damage with each successful attack, or 1/2 if it is gigantic. Each attack made with a nanopneumatic jackhammer will drain 1 charge from the supplied power source.[1]. An overloaded nanopneumatic jackhammer will deal 1/3 of the target's HP instead of 1/4 and drains 4x the charge, making them faster but also less power-efficient.
Equipping a nanopneumatic jackhammer grants the "Dig" activated ability, which is a form of auto-action. It allows the player to select a tile as a target destination, regardless of distance or visibility. Upon confirming selection of a destination tile, the player will automatically move in a straight line to that destination while automatically attacking and destroying any walls in the way, provided they are not interrupted while doing so.
Powered or not, a nanopneumatic jackhammer also functions as a cudgel weapon, dealing 2d42-8 (Avg: 5) damage with a PV cap of 7.[2] Note that the PV for a powered nanopneumatic jackhammer versus a structural object is separate from this PV, which is used when attacking creatures or when attacking walls with an unpowered one.
