Obtaining
- A pickaxe is guaranteed to be found on the ancient bones in the waterlogged tunnel between Joppa and Red Rock.
- Mafeo always will sell a pickaxe at Grit Gate.
Considerations
- Although it will destroy walls with eight successful penetrations, it is not particularly effective against mid-level walls compared to the nanopneumatic jackhammer or Burrowing Claws due to its poor inherent PV.
- Against high-AV walls such as fulcrete, however, both pickaxes and jackhammers will fail to penetrate. In this case, the significantly lower weight of the pickaxe may outweigh the lower PV.
