drop of nectar

Eaters' nectar was extracted from its injector, thickened in the acrid air, and bottled for culinary use.

Perfect

When a drop of nectar is used in a recipe, there is 25% chance to get +1 to all base Attributes (Agility, Strength, Toughness, Willpower, and Ego) permanently. No matter the outcome, this will reseed the mutation pool next time a mutation is bought, as well as resetting brain brine's random seed.[1]

The result cannot be rerolled with Precognition or other means. While the cooking effect will reset the random seed for the above uses, the same is NOT true for the reverse. The only way to reroll the outcome is by using the effect in a recipe; the 75% failure rate is unavoidable.[1][2]

If in a named recipe, the name can have the adjectives "god", "divine", "godly" or the noun "nectar".

Obtaining

Besides being preservable from an Eaters' nectar injector, a drop of nectar can be occasionally bought from chefs and kippers; the chance to stock it heavily depends on the current zone tier. It is one of the few ingredients that never appear in a dynamically generated clay oven.[3] Cooking with canned Have-It-All or a food cube has a 1.47% chance of replicating the drop of nectar's effects, while wild rice gets 5.95%.

Tips

This section is opinion-based. Your mileage may vary.

While the 25% chance to improve all your attributes may make it tempting to preserve your Eaters' nectar injectors, note that this equates to 1.5 total attribute points on average (or 0.25 each), and will probably require multiple tries before any return.

Using an injector directly has a significant advantage with Precognition or sphynx salt injectors, in that you can retry to improve your preferred attribute, or to get a mutation point if you're a Mutant.

A drop of nectar is regardless a very worthwhile purchase if found in the stock of a merchant, as a permanent stacking improvement to your character.
