A Canticle for Barathrum is the final quest from Argyve and an important step in the main questline. For the equivalent quest with the same objective available in random village starts, see A Signal in the Noise.
After constructing the Weirdwire Conduit, Argyve receives a mysterious repeating transmission. To investigate further, Argyve instructs the player to seek the council of Barathrum the Old, who lives in
Grit Gate along with his followers, the Barathrumites. Prior to departure, Argyve will give the player both a
stamped data disk with the transmission encoded, and a
droid scrambler, which will make the
waydroids at Grit Gate friendly instead of hostile towards the player when in the player's inventory.
To complete the quest, the player must travel to Grit Gate, enter the Barathrumite enclave underground, and talk with the communications panel there where the player will give the Barathrumites the stamped data disk. The Barathrumite enclave is always accessible through a north passageway three strata deep underground.
