Barathrum needs you for an undertaking of great importance. You must journey to Omonporch far to the north. There the Spindle stretches from earth to sky. Unfortunately, a troublesome merchant from the Consortium of Phyta has relocated there and declared itself Earl of Omonporch. We need you to broker a deal so that we may lease control of the Spindle. Failing that, you'll need to dispose of the self-appointed Earl.

Travel to Omonporch

XP: 1000

• Travel north to the Spindle at Omonporch.

Secure the Spindle

XP: 1000

• The player may either speak to Asphodel, Earl of Omonporch and convene The First Council of Omonporch, kill Asphodel, or, if possessing >600 reputation with the Consortium of Phyta, skip The Spindle Negotiation entirely.

Return to Grit Gate

XP: 5000

• Return to Grit Gate and report back to Otho.

Rewards

• New quest available: Grave Thoughts

Accomplishment

You dealt with Asphodel and secured the grounds at the base of the Spindle.

Notes

This section is opinion-based. Your mileage may vary.

• There are two water ritual-able members of the Consortium of Phyta, the oddly-hued glowpad and Asphodel xemself.
• The player may wish to obtain the book Heirlooms of Qud should they plan on convening the council.
• Watch out for the asphodelytes. Asphodel xemself does very little damage, but xyr minions take full advantage of their level 7 Electrical Generation.
• Having Baetyls as a favored faction is difficult (due to a lack of legendary Baetyls), but will result in a faction delegate sparking baetyl who gives a quest as usual, though the delegate will disappear after the negotiations are over whether or not the quest is completed.
