stabilizer arm locks are a cybernetic implant which, when installed in an arm cybernetic slot, make the implanted creature more accurate with ranged attacks. Specifically, it reduces the implantee's aim variance by 3° when firing missile weapons. The bonus from multiple stabilizer arm locks stack if this implant is installed in both arms.
They are one of the starting implants available when creating a True Kin character.
Advantages & Disadvantages
This section is opinion-based. Your mileage may vary.
Advantages
- Especially Useful during the very early game when ammunition is rare and missing a shot/running out of ammo could result in death.
- Higher accuracy generally translates to an overall boost to per-turn damage output.
- Provides a consistent benefit which can be utilized for most of the game.
- Low cost allows for easy installation without much impact on the user's ability to install other implants.
Disadvantages
- The accuracy bonus can alternatively be obtained by injecting
Eaters' nectar injectors 6 times and using the attributes points to boost Agility, freeing up the armslot for implants with effects that cannot be completely replicated, such as
intravenous port or
stasis projector.
- Bonus is highly specific, limiting use cases for melee-focused characters.
Tips
- Noticeably synergizes with
Bow and Rifle skills, many of the skills such as
Suppressive Fire are dependent upon the target being
marked and the shot actually connecting in order for the skill to take effect, the marked status however is removed regardless of whether the user successfully hits their target or not. Meaning that increased accuracy directly improves the usability and effectiveness of most of the skills.
- The bonus to accuracy pairs well with the 40-tile vison range granted by the
night vision implant, potentially enabling accurate, extremely long-range shots.
