tibular hydrojets are a feet-exclusive cybernetic which grants the user 200 additional move speed while moving through any pool of liquid at least 200 drams deep. The cybernetic will generally set the user's movement speed to 250 whenever the conditions are met, even when in pools shallower than 2000 drams, which usually only reduce creature movement speed by 20 compared to the 50-point penalty of deeper pools. However, the cybernetic does stack with the swimming skill, raising the user's total movement speed to 275 regardless of pool depth.
When initially moving into a liquid pool, some of it may be displaced, which in very shallow pools could lower the depth below the minimum threshold, preventing the cybernetic from functioning.
Advantages & Disadvantages
Advantages
- Cheap license tier cost, allowing for installation with little impact on the user's ability to install additional implants.
- Provides one of the largest conditional boosts to movement of any item or cybernetic available, with only level 11 and higher
Multiple Legs mutation being able to individually surpass it in pure numbers.
- Useful in environments with lots of liquid such as
Golgotha, the
Asphalt Mines,
jungle rivers, or
Lake Hinnom.
- Allows the user to easily outrun certain dangerous swimming creatures such as
madpoles,
sultan crocs, or
sewage eels.
Disadvantages
- Destroyed when uninstalled, limiting overall utility without careful planning or long-term commitment.
- Most other feet cybernetics provide more consistently usable movement abilities/bonuses.
Tips
- If the user were to find themselves with the
Slime Glands mutation, such as by water-ritualing the legendary ooze
k-Goninon they would be able to place 500 dram pools of
slime wherever they wish, allowing for consistent and portable usage of the Tibular Hyrdojet's usually niche movement bonus.
- The movement bonus stacks with certain gear items, an equipped
rocket skates combined with a magnetized
bounding boots can allow the user to reach 870 movement speed in water, provided they also have
Kah's loop to allow sprinting while submerged in liquid.
