Kith and Kin is the final quest in the optional Bey Lah questline. It is started automatically once Hindriarch Keh is spoken to after Eskhind's return and Find Eskhind is complete.

Once you obtain the quest, Angohind will helpfully offer his expertise on how to find clues and solve a mystery. Warden Neelahind can offer information about the various suspects. Clues can be found by either asking the populace or by looking at the description of items on the ground, geographical features, or key NPCs. When the player is ready to make an accusation, they must present their evidence to Neelahind. If an accusation can be proven false by Neelahind's knowledge of the suspect, that suspect is ruled out from further accusations.

The outcome of the player's investigation can significantly alter the fate of Bey Lah, for better or worse.

Gathering Evidence

Gathering evidence involves searching the village for two types of clues:

  • Circumstance: clues that reveal the circumstances of the crime (or "the supporting evidence" as described by Angohind)
  • Motive: clues that suggest a particular suspect's motive (or "the implicating evidence" as described by Angohind)

The player can find up to eight clues: four circumstance clues, and one motive clue for each of the four suspects. Finding all the clues fulfills the optional quest objective. However, making an accusation only requires one circumstance and one motive clue. The clues are randomly chosen when the quest is started, and therefore the set of clues available cannot be influenced by the order in which the player searches the village[1].

Additionally, every clue has an influence: Craft, Trade, Illness, or Violence. The influence of the clues used when the player accuses the thief is an important factor in determining the quest's outcome and rewards.

Accusing the Thief

The thief can be one of four suspects: Hindriarch Keh, Eskhind, Kesehind, or a kendren (an outsider). There is no predetermined correct answer; a successful accusation by the player will be treated as the truth.

However, each suspect cannot be accused by certain clues[2]. Making a poor accusation prevents the player from accusing that suspect again.

Invalid Accusations

Possible Thief Cannot be accused with
Keh heard infighting, heard loud splashing, scratched copper nugget, severed tongue, leather scraps
Eskhind bloody watervine, bulging waterskin, great saltback print, pool of putrescence, foreign leatherworking tools
Kesehind splintered weapon haft, talking late at night, yuckwheat chaff, smell of yuckwheat tea, sound of crafting at night
Kendren bloody patch of fur, seeing a trader, sore throats in the village, missing leather stores, worn bracer

Tips

  • If you are missing clues even after searching the entire village and speaking with everyone, make sure that you have looked at all the clues, and did not pick any up without looking at them.
