A salt kraken is a powerful, normally peaceful, giant worm-like creature that can rarely be found wandering the salt dunes or deep underground.
Burrowing
When a salt kraken is burrowing, it moves once every two turns, creating a red highlight in the space before it. Anything standing in the highlighted space when the salt kraken advances will be destroyed; this causes instant death to the player and other creatures and is one of two ways to receive the *gulp* achievement. Additionally, a burrowing salt kraken will produce one of the following objects at its previous position:
Group | Weight | Items |
---|---|---|

Tips
This section is opinion-based. Your mileage may vary.
- It possesses vast Strength but low Mental Armor, making it an excellent candidate to
Proselytize or for
Beguiling.
- Following a salt kraken while possessing
Butchery is a good way to rack up lots of meat and other products for cooking, as well as certain pieces of equipment.
- Rarer corpses such as
kaleidoslug corpses, or corpses of more dangerous game such as
giant heaps of chrome scrap, are often faster to encounter and safer to retrieve in the path of a salt kraken in a high zone tier than from their respective creatures.
- Rarer corpses such as
- salt krakens who live in procedurally generated villages will not burrow.
- Legendary salt krakens will tend to leave their own lairs through the walls.
