A chassis plate has the highest AV of all back equipment as well as bonuses to both thermal resistances. As each chassis plate is guaranteed to be gigantic, a non-colossal creature must use two back slots to equip one, something only possible for True Kin with an equipment rack implant installed. Also note that while a chassis plate's base weight is 300 lbs., its inherent mod multiplies this to 1500 lbs..
A chassis plate can be butchered from a giant heap of chrome scrap, the remains of a slain
leering stalker.
Tips
This section is opinion-based. Your mileage may vary.
- A chassis plate fitted with suspensors can be magnetized and equipped to a non-colossal creature's two Floating Nearby slots. A second Floating Nearby slot can be acquired by completing Tomb of the Eaters (quest) or by installing a
magnetic core.
- In search of a chassis plate, a player who values their run over their time may choose tracking a
salt kraken over attempting to scrap a
leering stalker. Since corpses left in a kraken's path are influenced by zone tier, bringing a beguiled or proselytized salt kraken to a high-tier zone raises the chance of a
giant heap of chrome scrap being left in its trail.
- This can also be accomplished using a
star kraken, which will be more likely to survive any high-tier aggressors it encounters.
