Bon Te Bok

It moves as if painted onto the scene, each slender limb and fluted horn the gestalt of a thousand brushstrokes moving in smoothly rapid sequence. This picture of an antelope never opens its physical eyes, but between its horns wide-stares an eye of light that sees you, within you, beyond you. Whatever moves the handle of the brush that paints its effigy is terribly distant-- a distance that is a suggestion, felt in dread.

Recall Story

[ A Song of You on the Salt Wind ]

I sang a song of you upon the salt wind today. It's been near on a decade since you lost your Shape, but I still see it. There is a gap in my Self, the silhouette of you, and my sight is stenciled with that cervoid outline. With what you were, while you were here. Is the beacon light you described in me dark, now? I don't know what I am without you. What was I before you? I think of losing your Thread often, of what it would mean to me. What grief I would endure, knowing that you live on where I cannot go or see. Such a thing could cut a hole in my soul the shape of you, but I believe that even then, I will heal. Our connection exists independent of our bond. Surely that bond varies from one Host to another. Perhaps some of them even love you, or rather they love your Form. Perhaps some revile you without rejection. Do you exist outside of our connection? Do you exist in this one? I want to understand the nature of your perseity, and I imagine you do as well. We cling to one another in an ontological miasma, squinting to read answers that no one bothered to write. We cling to one another not so much for life as for direction. We know nothing of each other, we know nothing but each other. Should we lose our grip, we will spin alone. As I carom into the mouth of the Gyre, I will elegize you and myself. I will sing a song of you on the salt wind.
