girshling

Star orchid saliva pools at the tips of its fangs and drips onto pallid leg-things. It shudders in the capture of some pristine ecstasy lost to space and time, and it lets out a piercing whine.

Perfect

A girshling is a creature belonging to the Girsh and arachnids factions. Girshlings can be found within Golgotha, and a special variety can always be found on the bottom level of Red Rock.[1]

Girshlings attack in melee with their claws, natural short blade weapons that deal ♥1d61-6 (Avg: 3.5) damage each.[2]

Girshlings are swarmers, meaning a girshling will receive a +1 bonus to their to-hit and penetration rolls for every other swarmer adjacent to their target.[3]

Red Rock Girshling

A special variety of girshling can be found on the 4th floor of Red Rock, and is integral to the What's Eating the Watervine? quest. Seeing one of these girshlings will automatically fulfill the "Find the Vermin" step of the quest.[2]

The girshlings found in Red Rock are identical to normal girshlings, save for the fact that they have a 100% chance to drop a girshling corpse on death,[2] which is required to complete What's Eating the Watervine?. Though this makes completing the quest far easier, it is not necessary to obtain a girshling corpse from these girshlings, and in fact a girshling corpse obtained from any source will satisfy the quest's requirements.
