sap

Sap is a sweet, sticky liquid that plants and plant like creatures bleed instead of blood. Things covered in or mixed with sap are sugary or sappy.

Stepping in sap causes the creature to make a strength and agility save of difficulty 10 + 5 * drams of sap. If this save fails, the creature will become stuck for a maximum of 12 turns, where each turn moving makes an attempt to break free of difficulty drams of sap/10.

Consuming Sap

Drinking sap returns the following message:

It's sweet to the taste.

Doing so counts as a snack, but does not quench thirst.

Tips

This section is opinion-based. Your mileage may vary.
  • Due to sap having no special uses for cooking or crafting, this liquid can easily be overlooked.
  • sap's only unique use is how it has a moderate chance to be part of the cure for most Illnesses.
  • As player characters grow stronger, it can be difficult to find sap in the mid to late game due to killing plants in one hit. ichor merchants and chefs do not stock it often, making it surprisingly rare to find one reaching the mid-game.
  • In the early game, it can be worth sparing a container to auto-gather uncontaminated sap on the chance that it is needed for curing a future illness.
  • glowpads have an abundance of health for their level and are common in the salt marsh, but will need to be moved out of the water before combat to minimize salt contamination.
  • Using a bronze dagger will hit with minimal damage while still having reasonable bleed chances.
  • In an emergency, desalination pellets can be used to purify salt contaminated liquids.
