Sap is a sweet, sticky liquid that plants and plant like creatures bleed instead of blood. Things covered in or mixed with sap are sugary or sappy.
Stepping in sap causes the creature to make a strength and agility save of difficulty 10 + 5 * drams of sap. If this save fails, the creature will become stuck for a maximum of 12 turns, where each turn moving makes an attempt to break free of difficulty drams of sap/10.
Sources of Sap
- Plant creatures will bleed sap rather that blood.
- sap weeps and giant sap weeps, which can be found in fungal biomes, the Rainbow Wood, historic sites, or occasionally in other locations. In a fungal biome, the dandy caps and spotted shagspooks around sap weeps will be yellow or white in color.
- The alchemist is guaranteed to have one dram of sap available for purchase.
Consuming Sap
Drinking sap returns the following message:
It's sweet to the taste. |
Doing so counts as a snack, but does not quench thirst.
Tips
This section is opinion-based. Your mileage may vary.
- As player characters grow stronger, it can be difficult to find sap in the mid to late game due to killing plants in one hit. ichor merchants and chefs do not stock it often, making it surprisingly rare when looking for a cure. It may be helpful to mark locations where sap is located during early battles, like in the Rusted Archway or Rust Wells, full of vines that bleed sap.
- glowpads have an abundance of health for their level and are common in the salt marsh, but will need to be displaced out of the water before sap can be easily gathered.
- Short blade users can keep a bronze dagger in their inventory to minimize damage while still being able to inflict bleeding on plants. desalination pellets may be needed to purify the sap.
