Snakelite is a metal worm with the Light Manipulation mutation, two different natural cudgels, and a curious degree of machine intelligence.
Snakelite has two natural weapons: a \Saf-T Coat Articulated Chassis, which is essentially an unmodded steel war hammer with no PV bonus cap, and a relatively weak \Saf-T Lens that deals an additional 1-2 Heat damage. Snakelite's articulated chassis being on their back gives them a privilege rare for a worm: benefitting from the high AV bonus body armor can provide without disabling a weapon.
Notably, Snakelite's Light Manipulation has its level limited by their initial 14 Ego. Almost all Ego-boosting equipment is worn on a body part which Snakelite either doesn't have or must be open to use a natural weapon. A player who prefers Snakelite's Ambient Light to their lase's limited damage may direct them not to use their lase ability.
Snakelite shares many properties with mechanical creatures: having an inorganic metal body, bleeding oil, and resistance to heat and cold while taking double electrical damage. However, Snakelite differs from robots in the following ways:
- They respirate.
- They do not have a mental shield.
- They are not EMP-sensitive.
- They are affected by hunger and thirst;
- As a
thirst thistle's projectiles cannot dehydrate inorganic creatures, these mechanics do not affect Snakelite as a companion.
- As a
- They do not have the NonMutant tag, thus may have its mutations affected by drinking pure
warm static.
How does this mechanical worm breathe? Why do they have a brain and the ability to consume? We will never know. It's Snakelite!
In conversation, Snakelite repeats pre-recorded advertisements and consumer information, with frequent audio glitches. Their audio consistently fails when mentioning their manufacturer's name or information on Snakelite maintenance. Several of their safety features have apparently been disabled, including a monitor to limit their machine learning capabilities.
There is one line of dialogue Snakelite could not have been prepackaged with.
