Trolls are the three unique legendary creatures residing in the healing pool strata of 
Bethesda Susa, as well as any 
troll foals who may bud from their bodies.
Performing the water ritual with a troll allows the player to learn the locations of storied items, namely 
Stopsvalinn, the 
Ruin of House Isner, 
Kindrish, and the one part from the Great Machine chosen during world generation. Learning secrets from trolls is the only consistent way to learn the locations of Kindrish and of the part from the Great Machine.
The unique trolls each pose a different challenge in combat, described on their respective pages.

Trivia
- References to unimplemented "troll heroes" remain in the game's code. These non-unique legendary trolls would have generated in a similar manner to legendary
snapjaw warlords and 
goatfolk shamans.[1] While these trolls do not exist as creatures and cannot be spawned,[2] a legendary troll created using wishes will use the same naming scheme.
