(In the 'Will cause an explosion' section, under 'Volatility', I added the word 'sometimes' to the end of the sentence about picking Neutron Flux up, as I was able to do so without it exploding.)

neutronflux

neutron flux is an extremely volatile and rare liquid that can normally only be found inside a phial for sale. If a pure pool is found on the ground somehow, it will freeze at -100T.

One phial will always be found on the alchemist. There is also a rare chance of high tier dromad traders, kippers, ichor merchants, and chefs restocking it.

Upon eating a meal which uses neutron flux as an ingredient, the player will either gain a permanent +1 to their AV, or they will instantly die.

Currently, only highly entropic beings require neutron flux as a Water Ritual liquid, although creatures of this faction do not currently exist.

Volatility

Neutron flux is a very strange liquid. Certain, specific actions will cause it to explode with a force of 15,000, causing ♥10d10+250260-350 (Avg: 305) damage to any creatures, items, or walls caught in the explosion. However, there are also many actions which can be taken that will not cause it to explode. Dying from a neutron flux explosion will grant an achievement.

Will cause an explosion

  • Pouring neutron flux into a pool of any liquid (including itself)
  • Drinking neutron flux.
  • Pouring neutron flux into any container. ("collecting" neutron flux from a pool on the ground will also cause it to explode sometimes)

Will not cause an explosion

  • Pouring neutron flux onto the ground.
  • Pouring neutron flux onto yourself.
  • Pouring a liquid other than neutron flux into a pool of neutron flux.
  • Pouring a liquid other than neutron flux into a container of neutron flux.
  • Note: With the new liquid mechanics, the flux on the ground will explode shortly afterwards.

Tips

This section is opinion-based. Your mileage may vary.
  • Neutron flux can be used in a pinch as a very damaging thrown weapon if inside a fragile container like a glass bottle or a phial. However, note that a container shattering is similar to a distant pour, so it will only explode if it lands on another liquid.
  • At a commerce value of 1000 per dram, neutron flux is the most valuable liquid by weight, and the second most valuable item by weight.
