Staying underwater.
When a creature is submerged, it is considered to be underwater in a pool of swim-depth (2000+ drams) area of liquid.[1] This effect can be achieved by using the Submersion skill,[2] which is the signature skill of the sultan croc. Sultan crocs often use this ability in the algal lakes of Lake Hinnom.
When a creature becomes submerged, they also become hidden with a default Intelligence detection difficulty of 20.[1]
Submerged creatures cannot move while submerged and submerged NPCs will ignore creatures around them, even if they would otherwise be hostile to those creatures. Being attacked or attempting to move will immediately cause a creature to stop being submerged.[1]
